Buy Her Flowers Just Because
Here is a complaint from a girl which will inspire all of us men to give flowers without any reason whatsoever.
My men always had a bad relationship with flowers. For some reason all
of them thought that I am so emancipated/practical/fantasizing
(pick one) that I don't need flowers at all. So I never had this flower-chocolate period of which I hear from my girlfriends.
A flower story that I recall best happened to me when I was in grade 11. My boyfriend then, a punk and a skater, once said: "All day I wanted to buy you flowers... I have even saved some money. But now, we are drinking..." -- he spent the money on the alcohol to drink with his buddies. I was dumbfounded.
Because I was a young girl, pure and naive in my relationship with the opposite sex, just the fact that it is possible for me to receive flowers made me inifitely happy. It's amazing -- he wanted to give me flowers ! Its not a big deal that
his buddies are drinking beer. At least he meant to!

It was another young man who fell in love with me, who was first to give flowers during a somewhat extended period of time (two weeks, to be precise). To be fair, he had a good taste and picked, although roses, blooms of unusual and exotic colors. As soon as I began to get used to this, the submission of flowers to the altar of my beauty has stopped.
My present boyfriend, Ray, I must admit, gave me flowers during our courting period
almost on every date. He gave them with passion and taste. Small little
bouquets with little roses, gerbers or orchids. When we finally began living together he continued to give flowers by way of inertia, but later, it seems, got overworked and flower gifting died out. So I had to have a number of educational talks after which flower gifting resurrected itself, but this time with a bit of tension...
Few rare men who announced their mad love etc. gave flowers either during official holidays such as Valentine's, or gave flowers just because, but twice during the whole time we've know each other.
This is sad. Because not once, not even once, did I have a flower mania! Just so that some guy who is madly in love with me bought out all the roses in the flower store and, heaved under their weight, dragged them towards my feet. I heard of such from others. Even from male friends, I have heard that they have given such presents to the ladies of their hearts. But for me - nobody has. And nobody delivered flowers to my work, with delivery service.
Maybe I am just not worth such presents as a dozen red roses. Or orchids.
Or even an anonymous bouquet sent to my home...
Men of my life -- you are not giving me a choice. I am just going to have to become a feminist and give flowers to myself by myself. If so then be it, but later -- don't complain !
